This is why my job is so much fun, I get to work with dear Tyler all day long. Tyler, who always has amazing questions come up in conversation. I bet you could even ponder as to what the subject matter was.

Here's a recent flash piece i just finished up for my boss. I was asked to come up with a super simple "how-to" piece to add to our website's interactive section. Tyler gave me the idea of office etiquette for the theme, and this is what i came up with. :D Enjoy!

Tyler and I attended the "No Love for Love" Anti-Valentine's Day poetry event yesterday at the Apollo Theater in Chicago. I must say it was awesome. They had an array of good local artists and of course our favorite Dan Savage. The local artists were particularly good. Noami Ashley is a local musician that had some hilarious songs. I particular liked her song "room in this hear for two", which tells the story of a stalker to the extreme. Her 2005 album (which included all the songs she did that night) is on iTunes for anyone who wants to check it out. I hear she just released an album in Dec, but it's not up yet.
There was another performer who's name escapes me that did a small bit on parenthood and how children shows and toys become sexualized for the parent. As an adult you begin to put yourself in the same bubble as your child, and then you begin to fantasize about the shows and the toys. Such as: he was saying how he could tell you down to the timecode when and what daffoney is wearing in any of the scooby doo episodes, particuarly when she is showing skin or not. And then he pulled out this plastic caterpillar toy that was used to help children with their alphabet. When certain sounds are placed together, well let's say you could put together very naughty sounds that almost sounded as if you were watching a porno. So that whole bit I found interesting.
And the whole event was two and a half hours long ending with of course Dan Savage. He read a short bit from his recent contribution to the book "Things I Learned from the Women Who Dumped Me". And then he did a live version of his podcast by taking questions and answering them right there on the fly. So the whole event was amazing. It was more of a comedy show than poetry, which is what I thought i was supposed to be. Instead it was more performance which was really cool. I totally want to go again if they have something like it again. Anyone else who is interested should totally come so we can make a group outting out of it. :D

Thanksgiving Checklist.
1. Eat lots of turkey....Check!
2. Sample all the pie....Check!
3. Enjoy hanging out with all the relatives no matter what....Check!
4. Let your crazy aunt candle your ears....Whaaaaat?!
Fun thing I did for Thanksgiving, got my ears candled. LOL For those who don't know exactly how it goes, they take this big twelve inch tube of something flammable, stick one end of it down in your ear and light the other end of it. So essentially you're a big candle, now with personal wick! So this tube burns down toward your head creating a chimney effect, liquifing and sucking out any earwax that is down in your ear and depositing it in the tube. After the tube burns down so far you take it out and can open up the tube to see just what was in your ear. Kinda gross, but also fascinating. Supposedly this helps with hearing, I only noticed a slight improvement since i didn't have much wax in my ear to begin with. You can go to a salon and have it done or you can do it at home. Ear candling party!!! I'd totally do it if anyone wanted to do it sometime for kicks, the candles are pretty cheap i think.

Today I uploaded the newly redesined company website that I've been painfully working on for the past decade it seems. Despite a few things to be fixed, i think it turned out pretty good. If anyone could take a look at it and let me know how it works for you on you machine, that would be awesome. I was having some issues with it running slow when I viewed it on my laptop and trying to figure out what might be the cause of it. Many thanks!

Is it possible for someone to change their ways? Yes, no, maybe? When someone says they've realized their wrongs/flaws, is it true or are they feeding you a line? I've always been told that people don't/can't change, they are who they are and they won't ever change unless they truly want you. And I believe this, at least in my experience that's the way it has been. And if you change, then are you really you? But if it's a change for the better, then aren't you a better you? Change is good, but is it really true change or a temporary fix? So, can people change?

Here's something I came across recently and wanted to throw out there. When you come to a fork in the road, and you must make a choice, would you choose love or money? Now I'm not talking about choosing someone that is wealthy vs. someone that you find attractive or what not. I'm talking about would you choose meeting the love of your life or a career that would sustain you financially? Now this could be a tough one, think long and hard. In a sense one can not exist without the other. You need money to live and love to live fulfilled, yet love can not exist alone, and money alone does not create happiness. So if you had to choose one, which would it be? Could you be happy without love or without money?
Think about it.
Much luv,
Heather
So I finally broke down and got one of these things. Thanks to Jeff and Tyler of course ( luv you guys). :D Now I just have to figure out what sort of useless nonsense I'll post here for your viewing pleasure. :P Fear not, I have tons of useless information just floating around in this thing I call a brain, it will mainly come down to sitting down and organizing it. Maybe I'll even get some of my creative juices flowing and get some art work flowing through here as well. So when it comes down to it, you just never know what you may see here! Be afraid, be very very afraid.... Haha.
Stay Tuned!
Much luv,
Heather
